Privacy Policy
KindScroll does not require an account, does not use analytics or advertising, and has no server of ours that receives what you read, save or write in the app.
The short version
Your saved messages, your topic and tone choices, your reminder settings and your theme stay on your device.
If you buy the optional subscription, your device talks to Apple's or Google's billing service to do it. We never see your card details, and nothing about your purchase is sent to us.
1. Who this is about
KindScroll is a mobile app made and operated by an independent developer in Australia. There is no company behind it. The operator can be reached at kindscrollsupport@gmail.com, which is the contact point for anything in this policy.
This policy covers three separate things, and they are genuinely different: the app on your device, this website, and any email you choose to send to support.
2. There is no account
KindScroll has no sign-in, no username, no password and no profile. You do not tell it who you are, and it does not work it out.
3. What stays on your device
KindScroll stores the following in the app's own storage on your phone:
- the messages you save
- the topics and tones you choose
- your reminder time and whether reminders are on
- your theme choice
- which messages you have already seen today, so the same one is not repeated
- if you subscribe, a record that you are entitled to KindScroll Plus
None of this is sent anywhere. It is readable only by the app, and you can clear all of it at any time from You › Your data › Reset all local KindScroll data.
What happens when you uninstall depends on your phone, not on us. On Android the app is configured so this storage is excluded from automatic cloud backup and from device-to-device transfer. On iPhone, whether app data is included in an iCloud or computer backup — and so whether it returns when you restore or move to a new device — is decided by iOS and your backup settings. Offloading an app also deliberately keeps its data. If you want the data gone for certain, use the reset above before uninstalling.
4. What we do not do
- No advertising, and no advertising identifier.
- No analytics or usage tracking of any kind.
- No crash-reporting service.
- No profiling, scoring or inference about you.
- No selling or sharing of anything, because there is nothing to sell or share.
- No cookies on this website, and no tracking scripts on it.
5. Subscriptions and payment
KindScroll Plus is an optional monthly subscription. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple or Google. Your payment goes to your app store account.
KindScroll never receives your payment card details. They are never shown to the app and never pass through it.
To know whether to unlock Plus, the app asks your app store whether you have an active subscription, and keeps a small record of the answer on your device: an identifier for the transaction, the product identifier, when the subscription runs to, and when it last checked. That record stays on the phone. The verification material your app store returns alongside that answer is used only in the moment it arrives and is deliberately never stored.
Apple and Google process the transaction under their own privacy policies, and what they hold about it is covered by those policies rather than this one. KindScroll does not receive their payment records — only the on-device entitlement evidence described above — so their processing does not mean KindScroll collects your purchase history.
6. When the app uses the network
KindScroll's own network use is the app store billing service described above, and nothing else. There is no other server it talks to.
On Android, the Google Play billing library brings network permissions with it, which is why the app lists them. They exist for billing.
Two things that look like network use and are not. The app's fonts are included in the app rather than downloaded, and downloading them at runtime is switched off. And when you tap a phone number or a website in the Support Centre, KindScroll hands it to your phone's dialler or browser — your phone makes that call or request, not the app, and KindScroll does not learn whether you went through with it.
7. Notifications
Reminders are scheduled by your phone, on your phone. KindScroll asks for notification permission only when you actually turn a reminder on, and never before. If you would rather the message text not show on your lock screen, there is a setting for that.
8. This website, and emails you send us
This site is plain static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, loads no fonts or scripts from anywhere else, and has no forms. Like any website it is served by a hosting provider, and that provider may process ordinary technical logs — including IP addresses — for security and reliability, under its own retention practices. We do not add analytics to those, and we do not build any profile from them.
Email is different, and worth being plain about. If you write to support, we necessarily receive whatever you send: your email address, your message, and anything you choose to include. Those emails are kept in the support mailbox for as long as needed to answer you and to keep a record of the issue, and they are readable by the operator. Please do not send card numbers, receipts, screenshots of payment details or passwords — none of that is needed to help you.
9. Children
KindScroll is written for adults and older teenagers. It is not directed at children under 13. Because the app has no account and stores nothing off your device, it does not hold information about anyone regardless of age.
10. Your data rights
Rights such as access, correction and deletion apply to information someone holds about you. It is worth separating the three cases, because the honest answer is different for each.
App data. There is no account and no copy on any server of ours, so there is nothing for us to send you, correct or delete. You remove it yourself with the reset in section 3.
Support emails. These we do hold, because you sent them. If you want your correspondence deleted, or want to know what is in it, email and ask — that request will be honoured.
Hosting logs. Held by the hosting provider under its own practices rather than by us. If you have a concern about them, email and we will do what we can with the provider.
For information your app store holds about your subscription, contact Apple or Google.
11. App store privacy labels
On the App Store, KindScroll declares Data Not Collected. Apple's definition turns on data being sent off your device to the developer or to a third party the developer works with, and KindScroll sends none.
12. Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, this page changes with it and the effective date above is updated. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
